Extractions

Extractions

An extraction is a process that is performed to remove a decayed or severely damaged tooth that cannot be saved. It may also be performed to relieve crowding in the teeth. While some extractions can be performed without surgery, more complicated cases (for example, in the case of an impacted tooth) may require surgical extraction.

The process of extracting a tooth usually involves numbing the area with local anesthesia, loosening the tooth from the socket with specialised instruments, and then gently removing it. In some cases, the tooth may need to be sectioned or broken into smaller pieces to facilitate its removal.

After the extraction, the dentist or oral surgeon will provide instructions for post-operative care to promote healing and prevent complications, such as swelling, bleeding, and infection. The recovery period can range from a few days to a few weeks, depending on the complexity of the extraction.

At Paul Dental Clinic, we provide both surgical and nonsurgical extractions in east Delhi.
